A traditional meeting ground, gathering place, and traveling route to the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene, and Dakota, this land is sacred. We acknowledge all the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries in the past and the imprints we'll make together going forward. We pay our respect to this land of incredible beauty. Together, this partnership of First Nation Economic Development created the Dakota Dunes Golf Links. This thriving enterprise is focused on economic growth and financial self sufficiency. The slow-moving waters of the great South Saskatchewan River once provided water for the legions of buffalo who roamed the prairies, and the plains First Nations who hunted them. The river is a prominent feature in the city's history. A trip to sâskwatôn is not complete without exploring the riverbanks of the City of Bridges.
The Meewasin Trail (miýwâsin is nȇhiyawȇwin/Cree for ‘it is beautiful’) includes over 105km of pathway running along both sides of the South Saskatchewan River through and on the outskirts of sâskwatôn. There are many parks and sites located along trail. For maps and sites to visit along the trail, visit The Meewasin Valley Authority.
